SOME TACTICS EMPLOYED BY PICKPOCKETS: |
| * Watch for an intoxicated service person. Two to four pickpockets jostle him or her while picking their pocket. |
| * Jump in front of you on an escalator while an accomplice gets behind you. A shove and a push and you are broke. |
| * Two pickpockets walk on either side of you. One distracts or bumps you while the other picks your pocket. |

FOIL PICKPOCKETS: |
| 1. Keep your money in your wallet in a secure pocket. |
| 2. Don't keep money in your shirt or jacket pockets. |
| 3. Use the buddy system; it's simple but effective. |
No weapons, including spear guns, are allowed into Hong Kong. This applies to everyone, including supply officers, couriers and mail petty officers. The Ship Liaison Group provides transportation and escorts for disbursing officers.
TOUTS (HUSTLERS) AND TURBANED GURUS
Touts make a living getting a percentage of what you spend at the shops they recommend. Illegal street vendors selling fake watches and Indian "guru-style" fortunetellers loiter around Fenwick Pier waiting for gullible sailors. Touts may approach you on the street near Fenwick Pier. A good rule is "BEWARE of shops employing touts, they are not worth patronizing."
