WIRE-TRANSFER FUNDS

If you want money wired to you from the United States you should contact the Hong Kong branches of any of the banks listed and request they send a 'telegraphic transfer' request to your Stateside bank. DO NOT send a personal cable from your hotel or from the cable office. Interocean cable is not Western Union.

The banks need to know the US bank's name and branch, type of account, account number and the amount of money desired. Banks have directories to assist you. No bank can guarantee the time it takes to transfer funds from the States, so plan ahead.

The fastest way to transfer money is to phone someone in the States and request they have your bank send what you need by telegraphic transfer to an American bank here. An example of the wording:

"Have the (name) bank send a telegraphic transfer (cable transfer) for (X Amount of US Dollars) to (your name) in (local bank name, branch) Hong Kong.
